re-energy.ca Savonius (1) - Plans to make your own Savonius wind turbine with 4 permanent magnets and 4 coils. This vertical axis type wind turbine is very simple to build, and the site includes download-and-printable templates to help you on your way.

Pico Turbine Plans (PDF 907kB) (2) - Free plans to make an 8 inch tall savonius style permanent magnet alternator and turbine. It generates a usable voltage of 2.5V which is sufficient to power an LED.
