US Plans for 80MW PV Solar Farm

Cleantech America planning World's largest PV solar power station - 80MW in Fresno, California

Cleantech America - Renewable Energy

Cleantech America (1) are planning with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (2) to construct the world's largest and most advanced photovoltaic solar power station generating 80MW of power - sufficient to power over 20,0000 power-hungry US homes. Construction would begin in late 2008 and be completed by 2011.

This huge solar power station would provide peak power in the middle of the day in summer when air conditioning units are using vast amounts of electricity.

CalRENEW-1

CalRENEW-1 will be almost 20 times larger than the current largest PV solar power plant in the USA, and will be considerably larger than the Moura PV Solar Plant (3) (62MW) being constructed currently in Portugal. The current world's largest PV solar power plant (4) in operation generates 10MW of power and is located in Pocking, Germany.

CalRENEW-1 will make use of current photovoltaic solar panel (5) technologies as well as the latest concentrationg solar voltaics (6) systems. Cleantech America hope that CalRENEW-1 will act as an incubator for solar power technology development in the USA.

San Joaquin Valley, California

CalRENEW-1 will be constructed in the San Joaquin Valley near Fresno, California, and will cover an area of over 600 acres with solar panels. Five potential sites within the valley are currently being considered. Cleantech America believe that the solar power farm will have a positive economic effect in the nearby area with jobs in research and development, and manufacturing being created, and with related local industries benefiting.

Cleantech America

Cleantech America (7) are a San Francisco based startup company specialising in the development of utility-scale clean energy solar farms with zero greenhouse gas emissions (8).
