fit-PC2 from Compulab

Pictured above is the new fit-PC2 from Compulab (1) (specialists in miniature PC design) - an ultra low power PC. Capable of running Windows XP or Linux at just 6 Watts power consumption, and full high definition video at just 7-8 Watts, fit-PC2 is based around an Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz processor and the Intel US15W system controller hub.

fit-PC2 is tiny at just 4" x 4.5" x 1.05"!. It does not need a fan since its aluminium case offers sufficient heat-sinking to keep everything cool, and it is designed to be used with a solid state hard drive. With no moving parts there is less to go wrong increasing long-term reliability, and fit-PC2 is also absolutely silent.

fit-PC2 Specifications

fit-PC2 offers the following features: 1.6GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM, LAN and WLAN, DVI with graphics acceleration, a whopping 6 USB ports, IR receiver, and a 12V power supply (80 x 50 x 31mm).

HD television powered from fit-pc2

When connected to an HD television via an HDMI connector the silent fit-PC2 can easily be used as an energy efficient home theatre PC, and with no vent holes (since there is no fan) and no other moving parts (if a solid state hard drive is used) fit-PC2 will be rugged enough for a wide range of industrial and automotive applications.

Thanks to its small size (303 cubic centimetres volume, and 0.37 Kg weight), and since no hazardous substances are used in its manufacture, fit-PC2 is a green computer in more ways than one.
