Isle of Lewis Turbine Parts Lost Overboard

Essential parts of a Scottish wind turbine tower have been lost overboard on their way from Denmark to the Scottish island of Lewis.

The Arnish Moor Wind Farm, the first on Lewis, will eventually have three 1.3MW Nordex N60 wind turbines with a combined output of almost 4 megawatts.

According to the owners of the site US-based Forest Investment Management (FIM), the project will now face delays. The three turbines were planned to be ready by the end of November 2006, but an FIM spokesman stated "Clearly we are short of one turbine."

A far larger Lewis Wind Farm currently in the final planning and approval stage which will have 181 turbines generating 650MW of electricity.
