Convert To Run On Vegetable Oil

While it is possible to run a normal diesel car on Biodiesel, the manufacture of biodiesel takes up time and energy and money. In the ideal world it would be possible to run a car on straight vegetable oil - ideally used oil so that it is free. Well it is possible and not enormously difficult to achieve leaving you able to run your vehicle on used restaurant oil and or vegetable oil from a range of crops.

Vegetable oil is much thicker than standard diesel and, if it is used, it is likely to require filtration. For a car to run on straight vegetable oil (SVO), the oil must first be heated to around 160 degrees F to reduce its viscosity, and it must be filtered. Therefore certain parts need to be added to the car to be converted. One of the best providers of DIY conversion kits is Frybrid with a complete kit costing around US$1500-2000.
