Wind Turbine Safety Stickers
Wind Turbine Safety Stickers
Service and maintenance safety stickers for use with dual power supplies
wind | general | shoppingWith
grid-tied wind turbine (and
PV solar, and
hydro etc) systems certain safety procedures
must be followed. An electrician working on a
dual supply system for example needs to know that in addition to isolating the mains power supply, he must also
isolate any other connected generators or face the risk of
electrocution.
Therefore, in any home or business with a
dual power supply, everything must (in accordance with
G83 regulations) be clearly and permanently labelled with the necessary information and safety warnings. The electricity meter, consumer unit,
power inverter, generation equipment, and generator isolator switches for example must all be labelled.
In addition it is very helpful to display details of the original
installer and/or the service/maintenance contacts so that in the event of problems, the correct people can be contacted without delay.
Wind Turbine Safety Sticker Pack
Micro-wind turbine and PV solar installers
Energy Connect UK have put together a complete set of high quality
stickers which they use on their own installations and also sell as a package online in their online store. (Click here to purchase:
safety sticker pack from Energy Connect UK).
This pack includes the following stickers:
1 x Mains Isolator label sticker
1 x START and STOP stickers for the mains isolator
1 x Danger 'Rotating Blades' sticker to be applied to the wind turbine with the instruction
Isolate to halt
1 x Service/Maintenance sticker with two transparent areas in which the contact details and installation number can be entered
3 x 'Dual Supply' warning stickers which state "Do not work on this equipment unless it is isolated from both mains and on-site generation supplies" to be applied to electricity meter, consumer unit, and inverter. These also have a space where the installer can enter the location of the mains supply isolator and the on-site generator isolator
3 x Earth connection stickers to be applied where relevant
The stickers are very clearly printed, are very
sticky, and are made from very sturdy material (thick clear plastic). The stickers are resiliant to scratching and very resiliant to tearing and so should easily survive the lifetime of the equipment onto which they are applied.
One pack of these stickers (sufficient for one installation) is available for
£10 or a bulk pack of 5 installations' worth for
£25. More information about these stickers is available here:
